About GMS Macpherson
Bio
George Macpherson has been an avid classicist since an early age. He read Classics at the University of Oxford (Trinity College), devoting his time to the study of the literature, history, philosophy, languages and archaeology of the ancient Greek and Roman worlds. George continued his research at King’s College, London. He has more than 15 years of experience in education and research in the UK and China.
George is Scottish and speaks 7 languages, including Mandarin and Ancient Greek. In his spare time he records the Past Forward podcast, runs a classical book club, and plays the bagpipes.
Books
GMS Macpherson has written multiple books, fiction and non-fiction. His main fiction series is a gripping action adventure set in ancient Rome. In his most recent non-fiction work, he examines the phenomenon known as the Thucydides Trap, the power transition theory currently playing out between the world’s two biggest economies: the US and China.
Podcast
GMS Macpherson has launched a new podcast called Past Forward that discusses news and discoveries of the ancient world and explores the influence of Ancient Greek and Roman civilisation on the current world and society.
